What Are Features?
The term "features" here means the various mapped objects shown on the current active map, and includes the
elements for all layers currently visible.
Multiple types of features from different map layers can occupy all or part of the same area. For example,
buildings, fences, and driveways typically are found within a parcel boundary. Parcels in turn are found within
zones and wards, etc.
Using the Identify Features tool, you can click on the map and access details for all features that either touch
or surround the point where you clicked.
Accessing the Identify Features Tool
Zoom or pan to the desired area and activate the desired layers (or select any
Quick Map). For best results, zoom in
to the extent where the features you wish to identify are individually recognizable.
Click the More Tools dropdown located in the upper center of the browser window, then click
ID Visible Features:
The current mode
will change to 'ID Visible Features'.
Using the Identify Features Tool
While in ID Visible Features mode, click anywhere on the map extent shown. A list of the layers
touched by the point where you clicked will appear in the left information pane.
Click on any layer name in that list to view the details of the particular map element found at
the point where you clicked. Depending on the zoom level and where you clicked, it is possible
for multiple elements to be displayed for that particular layer.
