Public GIS Map Viewer: Parcel Selections

You can build a selection of one or more parcels, and then print a list of those parcels for further use as desired. For example, you may wish to identify parcel owners along a given street, or in a certain area, or who abut a given parcel.

A parcel selection is not the same as a search. Selections must be built dynamically. A search does not create a selection.

  • Using Selections

  • Creating A Selection

There are three ways to initiate the parcel selection process:

Zoom To Parcel: If you perform a search and then click Zoom to Parcel for one of the parcels returned, it will create a new selection consisting of that parcel.

Use the ID/Select Tool: First, zoom to the desired area, to a zoom level where individual parcels can be identified. Click this tool to enter Identify Parcel mode, then click on the desired parcel shown on the map to select it.

Use the Select Parcels By Line tool: First, zoom to the desired area, to a zoom level where individual parcels can be identified. Click the More Tools dropdown, then choose this tool. Drag a line on the map to select all parcels touched by that line.

Adding and Removing Parcels From Selections

Once the selection process is begun, the search area at the upper left corner of the browser window changes to provide selection options, as shown at right. When a selection is begun, the Select Mode will usually default to New Selection, as shown.

You can build and modify your selection by choosing a different Select Mode, then clicking on other individual parcels:

    • New Selection: each subsequent parcel clicked clears the existing selection and starts a new one.

    • Add To Selection: each subsequent parcel clicked will be added to the list of selected parcels.

    • Remove From Selection: each subsequent parcel clicked will be removed from the list of selected parcels.

Note that as the selection is changed, the left information pane changes with it and all selected parcels are outlined in red. At any time you can view the Property Details for any of the selected parcels without altering yout selection.

You can also zoom and pan to see other parcels not already shown on the map and add/remove them from your selection.

Note: to improve response times for all users, selections are limited to a certain number of parcels.

    Using Selections

Once a selection has been built, there are several things that can be done with it:

    • Print-Friendly Table View: This link appears at the top of the selections list in the information pane at left. Clicking it will pop-up a web page table that can be printed or saved as desired. This table includes property owner and mailing address information, as well as some other parcel details.

    • Copy the Map Image: This tool will make the currently displayed map image (including the selection outlines) available for further use. See Copying Map Images for details.

    • Print the Map Image: Using the HTML (web page) print option will create a printable version of the currently displayed map image, including the selection outlines. See Printing Maps for details.
